You\u2019ll get both here.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why you shouldn\u2019t switch overnight<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your cat\u2019s digestive tract is adapted to its usual food. The gut flora has adapted to it too. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you switch abruptly, many cats react with diarrhea, vomiting, or simply refusing to eat. That\u2019s unpleasant for your cat and frustrating for you\u2014and it often means an actually good food gets rejected too quickly. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s why the rule is: mix gradually instead of switching cold turkey.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The 7-day plan for changing food<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For most healthy cats, one week is completely enough. Cats are surprisingly good at that.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The gentle 14-day plan for sensitive cats<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Does your cat have a sensitive stomach, is it older, or has it reacted badly to a food change before? Then take twice as much time. <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Days 1\u20133:<\/strong> 10% new food<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Days 4\u20136:<\/strong> 25% new food<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Days 7\u20139:<\/strong> 50% new food<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Days 10\u201312:<\/strong> 75% new food<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>from day 13:<\/strong> 100% new food<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If digestive issues come up in between, simply go back one step and stay there for a few more days.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Your cat won\u2019t eat the new food\u2014what now?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It happens. These tricks help in most cases: <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bring the food to room temperature.<\/strong> Cold food straight from the fridge hardly smells. But cats decide with their nose first. Let it sit briefly or warm it slightly.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Add a little of the old food on top.<\/strong> The familiar smell lowers the barrier.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Check the bowl and the location.<\/strong> Shallow, wide bowls are more comfortable because the whiskers don\u2019t bump into the sides. And the bowl shouldn\u2019t be next to the litter box or in a noisy spot. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Cut out snacks.<\/strong> If your cat gets treats all day, there\u2019s no reason to try something new.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Introduce set times.<\/strong> Put the bowl down for 20 to 30 minutes, then take it away.
